License Activation

After purchasing on the Pricing page, open ResearchPLS, go to Settings > License, and enter the email address you purchased with. ResearchPLS generates a private device key that never leaves your computer, and asks our license server to activate this device against your subscription.

A ResearchPLS license covers one user on one active device at a time. If you try to activate a second device, you'll see a clear message that the license is already in use -- deactivate the current device first (Settings > License > Deactivate) to free it up for a new one.

Once activated, the server issues a cryptographically signed entitlement that ResearchPLS stores securely and verifies locally -- this is what lets the application keep working normally through a reasonable offline period (a configurable grace window) without needing to reach the license server for every launch. It re-verifies online periodically, and whenever your subscription status changes (e.g. a renewal or cancellation).
